5092 meters above sea level! The hoisting of the first fan of the 300,000-kilowatt wind storage integration project of CNNC Sakya was completed

Apr 26, 2024

On April 20, in the plateau mountains of Sakya County, Shigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region, the first wind turbine of the CNNC Group's first wind power project in Tibet, invested by CNNC Huineng Tibet Company and built by CNNC No. 22 Company, was completed. According to estimates, the highest altitude of the wind farm area reaches 5,193 meters, which is the highest altitude and largest single capacity wind power project under construction in the world.

The project is located in the northern foot of the Himalayas, only about 140 kilometers from Mount Everest, with a total installed capacity of 300MW, including a total installed capacity of 200MW wind power, a total of 40 wind turbines installed, a single capacity of 5MW. The diameter of a single fan wheel is 183 meters, the blade is 90.1 meters long, the hub height is 105 meters, and the total weight is 483.9 tons. Under normal operation, a single fan blade can produce about 3 degrees of electricity per rotation, and 5000 degrees of electricity can be generated per rotation for 1 hour, which can meet the electricity demand of 4 ordinary families for a year. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation is nearly 600 million KWH, which is equivalent to saving about 164,200 tons of standard coal, reducing about 453,400 tons of sulfur dioxide, and reducing about 450,100 tons of carbon dioxide every year, effectively promoting the high-quality development of local economy and society.
